Depuis 2013, l’École d’art de l’Université Laval permet à un(e) étudiant(e) de la maîtrise en arts visuels d’entreprendre sa recherche dans l’un des trois centres suivants: Avatar, La Bande Vidéo et LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE. Le candidat ou la candidate sélectionné(e) est en résidence dans l’un de ces centres pendant les deux années de sa maîtrise. Cette collaboration est possible grâce à la contribution du Fonds Fondation-René-Richard.

LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE a le plaisir d’accueillir pour une deuxième année consécutive Pascale LeBlanc Lavigne. L’artiste bénéficie de l’espace des laboratoires du centre, de tout l’équipement disponible ainsi que de l’aide technique pour la réalisation de ses projets. LeBlanc Lavigne a commencé sa résidence à l’automne 2015, elle se poursuivra jusqu’à l’été 2017. 

Le travail de Pascale LeBlanc Lavigne s’articule autour de la notion d’imprévisible. Elle produit des sculptures cinétiques et sonores au moyen de matériaux récupérés ou de matériaux de nature industrielle. Ainsi, ses structures instables et parfois éphémères produisent des phénomènes inattendus et poétiques.

Pascale LeBlanc Lavigne est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en arts visuels et médiatiques de l’Université Laval, où elle poursuit également une maîtrise dans le même domaine. Au cours de ses études, son travail a été récompensé plusieurs fois, notamment lors de son exposition de fin de baccalauréat où elle a remporté le prix Avatar 2015 et une mention d’honneur du centre d’artistes La Bande Vidéo. Elle a également été sélectionnée comme artiste en résidence à LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE qui l’accueille dans le cadre de sa maîtrise afin de soutenir sa production. En 2016, Première Ovation lui a octroyée une bourse de création et de production qui donnera lieu à sa première exposition solo intitulée «la vitrine» dans les locaux de Manif d’Art.

LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE is pleased to welcome Pascale LeBlanc Lavigne for the second year. The artist will benefit from all the labs equipment available as well as technical assistance for the realization of her projects. LeBlanc Lavigne began her residency during autumn 2015 and will continue until summer of 2017.

The work of Pascale LeBlanc Lavigne revolves around the notion of unpredictability. She produces kinetic sculptures and sound using recycled or industrial materials. Thus, the unstable and ephemeral structures sometimes produce unexpected and poetic phenomenons.

Pascale LeBlanc Lavigne holds a bachelor’s degree in visual and media arts from Université Laval where she is also pursuing a MFA. During her studies, her work has been awarded several times. For her piece shown during the art graduate exhibition, she won the Avatar prize 2015 and an honorable mention from La Band Vidéo. She was also selected as an artist in residency at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE who supported her MFA production. In 2016, she receives a creation and production grant from Première Ovation for a the realization of a piece to be shown in her first solo exhibition entitled "la vitrine" in the office of Manif d’art.
